Inspirational Texts

Like I mentioned in previous posts my magazine genre is fashion, so to help give me some inspiration I decided to look at other magazines. I will be looking mainly at the layout of the magazine and looking at the different images used, this will hopefully help me decide what I should include on my magazine.

I will mainly be looking at magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Marie Claire. I believe that these will help me most because these are magazines that I read at home and I know the target audiences and what they would like the magazine to include. If you look at Elle magazine, the first thing that really stands out to me is the background colour. The colour pink is probably the most feminine colours ever, and I think that this really contrasts with the model as Lily Allen is a well-know notorious singers of the 21st century. I really like the way Lily has been styled its old but with a modern twist, as her is very 1950's. Similarly if you look at the Vogue front cover there is a pink background which is probably more suitable to the model, Lana Del Rey. I really like these pastel colours and would like to incorporate them into my own product. However one magazines colour scheme I am not too fond of is the Marie Claire one from above. Although the colours do work well together, they aren't personally my cup of tea, like I mentioned previously I would prefer to use more pastel toned colours rather than blue. I also don't like what the model is wearing as I believe it makes her look frumpy and doesn't really suit her. I personally would choose something that would really make the magazine stand out from the rest of the text, make it pop.

 

Action Plan

This is my action plan for A2 media coursework; this is here to help ensure that i complete the deadlines:

*September 20th- Research and Planning must be completed

*October 10th- Photography must be complete 

*October half term- Photographs must be taken

*End of October- Photographs must be edited

*December 7th- Magazine work finished

*Christmas Holidays- First ancillary task finished

*Start of January- The second ancillary must be complete

*February half term- The evaluation must be complete

Grading A2 Coursework

During one lesson we were asked to participate in a task which we had to look at past students work and analyse it carefully; make positive and negative comments and also grade the work. I believe that this task was very helpful and gave me an idea on what I should include in my work and also what not to include.

Initial Plan

As you can see I have devised an initial plan for my magazine. As you can see it includes a description of my brief and also the two ancillary tasks that I have chosen. It then moves on to mention the genre of my magazine (which I have stated in a previous post) and the target audience; one of the most important steps to consider. And finally I written down exactly what I need to do in order to produce a fashion magazine of high quality.

Mood board

As part of my first task I had to create a mood board, which must include images or text of things that I have influenced me. As you can see I have inserted an image of my mood board. It is a plan/template which will help me in the future with my media project.

As you can see my magazine will be focused on the fashion industry. Especially high end fashion. The reason I have chosen to include the images of models such as Kate Moss and Cara Delevigne is because I believe that these models really scream 'High End fashion'. They are very well known within the fashion industry and are photographed by top photographers such as Mario Testini for magazines such as Vogue. I have also included the logos of high end brands; Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent etc. These brands are usually featured in fashion magazines like Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and many more.

I personally really like the way the models have been shot and I would like to incorporate this when I take my pictures. I think the models look extremely stylish and are wearing up to date clothing and their makeup is on point.
 

A2 coursework Overview

I was given 3 different options for A2 media coursework, they consisted of creating a regional magazine, a trailer and a short film. I of course chose to create a regional magazine. Reasons being because I personally enjoy reading magazines and I think it would suit me well to create my own. 

The genre of magazine I have chosen to do is fashion because I myself enjoy reading through different fashion based magazines and believe that I could produce a well presented fashion magazine.
